Recognized by his peers, Mr. Fishwick has been elected or appointed to a number of leadership positions in legal organizations such as Chair of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association Business Litigation Section and a member of the Bar Council for the Virginia State Bar which is the governing body for Virginia lawyers. He was included in the Best Lawyers in America publication in 2005, 2006 and 2007. He was selected into Virginia's Super Lawyers in 2008.

A 1979 graduate of Harvard University, John received his law degree from Washington and Lee Law School in 1983 where he graduated cum laude and was an editor of the Law Review. He previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable James C. Turk, United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia.
