John Fishwick has tried and won a number of significant cases in court, particularly in federal court. He practices primarily in the area of business litigation (including employment), federal criminal, product liability and class action. John has tried or settled a number of complicated cases. These cases include criminal cases, civil rights, class action and business litigation.

Recognized by his peers, Mr. Fishwick has been elected or appointed to a number of leadership positions in legal organizations such as Chair of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association Business Litigation Section and a member of the Bar Council for the Virginia State Bar which is the governing body for Virginia lawyers. He was included in the Best Lawyers in America publication from 2005 through 2008. He was selected into Virginia’s Super Lawyers in 2008. In late 2008, John explored the opportunity to run for Attorney General of Virginia. Ultimately, John chose to continue in his aggressive private practice of law, fighting against injustice and for people whose lives and livelihood depend on that representation. Also, in 2008 John was a guest on the Dr. Phil show where he and his client spoke on a show about bringing tough legal cases. The show was titled "Fighting the System".

A 1979 graduate of Harvard University, John received his law degree from Washington and Lee Law School in 1983 where he graduated cum laude and was an editor of the Law Review. He previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable James C. Turk, United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia.
